AMY MAESTAS
Director, Collaborative Journalism Resource Hub
Amy Maestas is the director of the Collaborative Journalism Resource Hub. She has worked in journalism for more than 35 years as an editor, reporter, designer, and media executive. She was executive editor of The Durango Herald and other small newspapers and magazines in Southwest Colorado for a family-owned company, where she worked for 24 years. She was the digital director at The Salt Lake Tribune. For five years, she worked at Solutions Journalism Network, directing the Local Media Project. The project, funded by the Knight Foundation, seeded and supported 15 solutions-focused journalism collaboratives across the U.S. In 2012 was a fellow with the Maynard Media Academy at the Nieman Foundation. She also was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan, Class of 2017. Amy is passionate about supporting local media ecosystems through collaborative journalism, especially for endeavors that focus on solutions, community-centered partnerships, and sustainability.
